Helen,
At People to People Student Ambassador Programs we strive to give you the insider’s view of the world through unparalleled access to people and places. This is possible thanks to our nearly 50 years of establishing global partners who also promote cultural understanding and world peace.
These unique People to People moments, like being able to interact with an Irish family and participate in their day-to-day life, are best described by the people you will be visiting on your journey.
We are delighted that you will be visiting us this year, as we thoroughly enjoy when Student Ambassadors visit us here at our farm. Summer is a busy time on the farm and we love sharing what we do with all of you. We have some great activities for you to try:
Jump in the bog (bring an old T-shirt, shorts, and shoes)
Cut turf
Speak Gaeilge (Irish)
Play hurling
Make a sugán rope
Work a sheepdog
Dance a jig
Play a bodhrán
Enjoy a traditional Irish Céilí
It is a great joy for us to make the delegations feel as welcome as possible—and it is amazing how similar Americans and Irish are! Two years ago, we started a 'People to People Copse' and the trees that the delegations planted have their winter coats on at the moment… we hope that you too will be adding some more trees beside the lake this year.
We still keep in touch with many of the students who have visited over the years and we look forward to seeing you all and making new friends again this year.
Warm regards,
Deirdre Murtagh
